Trump-Zelenskyy Row: US Halts Military Aid to Ukraine After Heated Debate

The United States has taken a significant step following a tense debate between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump at the White House. The US has paused military aid to Ukraine, pending a review.

A White House official confirmed that aid will remain on hold until Trump determines that Ukraine is genuinely committed to peace. This is not a permanent halt but a temporary suspension. Under this order, all US military equipment that has not yet reached Ukraine will be stopped. Trump has directed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to enforce the pause.

Reports suggest that Trump aims to pressure Ukraine into ending the war with Russia. He expects Zelensky to support his approach, but the Ukrainian leader is demanding security guarantees before agreeing to peace. When Zelensky recently stated that it was not the right time for a deal with Russia, Trump strongly criticized his remarks, calling them unacceptable.

Heated Exchange in the Oval Office

The debate between Trump and Zelensky in the Oval Office last week grabbed global attention. Trump reportedly mocked Zelensky’s attire, joking that he was “fully prepared.” Zelensky managed to brush it off with a smile.

Tensions escalated when Zelensky warned that Russian aggression posed a long-term threat to the US. He argued that while America might not feel the danger now, it would in the future. This statement angered Trump, leading to sharp verbal exchanges before the meeting ended abruptly.

The situation highlights rising tensions between the US and Ukraine, with the future of American military aid now uncertain.
