UN: Global Unity After Pahalgam Attack Demonstrates Zero Tolerance for Terrorism, Says India

In a powerful statement at the United Nations, India has affirmed that the widespread international condemnation following the Pahalgam terrorist attack stands as a strong testament to the global community’s zero tolerance for terrorism. Addressing a special session organized by the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Yojna Patel, emphasized that the Pahalgam incident is one of the deadliest terrorist attacks on civilians in India since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

Patel highlighted that India, having endured decades of cross-border terrorism, deeply understands the devastating impact such attacks have on victims, their families, and entire communities. She also underscored the need for continued international solidarity in the fight against terrorism.

Global Leaders Stand with India

Following the tragic attack in Pahalgam, several world leaders expressed their condolences and condemned the act in the strongest terms. Among those who stood in support of India were U.S. President Donald Trump, U.S. Vice President JD Vance, Russian President Vladimir Putin, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, French President Emmanuel Macron, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Their unified response reflects a shared global stance against terrorism and a call for justice.

UN Security Council Issues Strong Condemnation

In addition to individual leaders, the United Nations Security Council also released an official statement last week, firmly condemning the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The Council stressed the importance of holding the perpetrators accountable and bringing them to justice. It also called on all member states to fully cooperate in accordance with international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

India welcomed these expressions of solidarity, noting that such collective responses reinforce the international resolve to eliminate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. As Yojna Patel stated, “The support we received after the Pahalgam attack is a reflection of a unified global front against the menace of terrorism. This solidarity is not just a diplomatic gesture—it’s a clear signal that the world stands united in its fight against terror.”
