BPSC Result 2025: Bihar Public Service Commission Declares 71st Preliminary Exam Results – 14,261 Candidates Qualify

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has officially announced the results of the 71st Preliminary Examination, marking a significant milestone for civil service aspirants across the state. A total of 14,261 candidates have successfully cleared this highly competitive examination, paving the way for the next stage of the selection process.

Out of the total successful candidates, 13,368 candidates have qualified through the general preliminary exam, while 893 candidates have secured eligibility for the position of Financial Administrative Officer (FAO). These results reflect the dedication and hard work of thousands of aspirants who appeared for the exam.

According to BPSC Examination Controller Rajesh Kumar Singh, approximately 4.71 lakh candidates had applied for the 71st Preliminary Examination. Out of these, around 3.57 lakh candidates downloaded their admit cards, and 3.16 lakh candidates eventually appeared for the examination. The exam was conducted at 912 examination centers across Bihar, with an overall attendance rate of 64.3%. Following this stage, 1,298 positions are slated to be filled through subsequent rounds of the BPSC recruitment process.

Regarding cut-off marks, Rajesh Kumar Singh provided detailed information for various categories:

  • General Category: 88 points
  • Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 82.33 points
  • Scheduled Castes (SC): 72 points
  • Scheduled Tribes (ST): 71.33 points
  • Extremely Backward Classes (EBC): 81 points
  • Backward Classes (BC): 84 points

Additionally, 211 candidates scored above 100 points, highlighting the competitive nature of the exam.

With the preliminary exam results now released, the focus shifts to the BPSC Main Examination. While the exact dates for the main exam are yet to be announced, candidates are advised to prepare for the following structure:

  1. Language Paper (General Hindi):
    • Total Marks: 100 (qualifying only; not counted in final ranking)
    • All questions are long-answer type.
    • Minimum passing marks: 30
  2. General Studies (GS 1 & GS 2):
    • Each paper carries 300 marks.
    • All questions are long-answer type.
  3. Optional Subject Paper:
    • Total Marks: 300
    • All questions are long-answer type.

Each paper in the main examination is 3 hours long, requiring thorough preparation and time management. Candidates must pass the Hindi language paper to have their other papers evaluated.
