UPSC CSE and IFS 2026: Three-Day One-Time Correction Window to Be Introduced
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced a major relief measure for candidates applying for the UPSC CSE and IFS 2026 examinations. The Commission is planning to introduce a three-day, one-time correction window that will allow applicants to edit and rectify mistakes made in their online application forms. This move is aimed at making the application process more transparent, efficient, and candidate-friendly.
The correction window will be opened after the completion of the online application process. While the exact dates have not yet been announced, the UPSC has confirmed that detailed guidelines and rules will soon be published on its official website.
Why the Correction Window for UPSC CSE and IFS Is Important
Applying for highly competitive examinations like the UPSC CSE and IFS requires candidates to carefully fill out multiple sections of the application form. However, due to the complexity of the form or simple human error, candidates sometimes make mistakes in personal details, educational qualifications, or exam-related information.
To address such concerns, the Commission has decided to offer a limited-time opportunity for corrections. During this three-day window, candidates will be able to make necessary modifications in the Common Application Form as well as the Examination Application Form. This initiative ensures that deserving aspirants are not disadvantaged due to minor errors made during submission.

UPSC Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar emphasized that the Commission is continuously working towards improving and simplifying the examination system. Speaking about the UPSC CSE and IFS correction facility, he stated that although several verification layers are already integrated into the online portal, this special one-time correction window has been introduced considering the genuine difficulties faced by candidates.
He clarified that the facility will be available only for a limited duration and is intended to maintain the integrity of the application process while giving candidates a fair chance to correct unintentional errors. The primary objective remains to uphold transparency and ensure equal opportunity for all applicants.
Structure of the New Online Portal for UPSC CSE and IFS
The new UPSC online application portal has been designed to streamline the registration process. It is divided into four major sections displayed as separate modules on the homepage:
- Account Creation – For creating a new user profile
- Universal Registration – For entering general and personal information
- Common Application Form – Basic details applicable to multiple examinations
- Examinations Module – Contains examination notices, specific application forms, and status tracking
The first three sections can be completed at any time, giving flexibility to candidates preparing for UPSC CSE and IFS and other examinations. The fourth module becomes active when a specific examination notification is released.
When Will the UPSC CSE and IFS Correction Window Open?
As of now, the Commission has not disclosed the exact dates for the correction window. However, it has confirmed that the facility will remain open for three days immediately after the closure of the online application process.
Candidates are advised to regularly visit the official UPSC website to stay updated regarding the schedule, permitted changes, and specific guidelines related to the correction process.
Similar Facility Provided Earlier
This is not the first time UPSC has introduced such a measure. Previously, a similar correction window was provided for candidates of the NDA & NA Examination (II) 2025 and CDS Examination (II) 2025. Following its positive response, the Commission has now decided to extend the same benefit to applicants of UPSC CSE and IFS 2026.
Launch of the New Application Portal
The upgraded online application portal was officially launched on May 28, 2025. It replaced the earlier One-Time Registration (OTR) system to make the process more organized and user-friendly. Currently, applications for UPSC CSE and IFS 2026 are being accepted through this newly introduced system.
