S. Jaishankar Visits Netherlands, Expresses Gratitude for Support Against Terrorism

India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar arrived in the Netherlands on Monday as part of his official foreign tour from May 19 to May 24, during which he will visit the Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany.

During his visit to the Netherlands, Dr. Jaishankar held a meeting with Dutch Foreign Minister Casper Veldkamp. In the meeting, he expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Netherlands’ support following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. He also shared a message on social media, thanking the Dutch government for its warm hospitality and highlighting discussions on strengthening bilateral ties and addressing key global challenges.

Engagements with Dutch Leaders and Indian Diaspora

In addition to his diplomatic meetings, Dr. Jaishankar met with Netherlands’ Defense Minister Ruben Brakelmans to discuss deepening defense cooperation between the two nations. He also engaged with members of the Indian community in The Hague, encouraging them to actively contribute to building stronger India-Netherlands relations.

International Support Following the Pahalgam Terror Attack

The Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 drew strong condemnation from the Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany. All three nations expressed solidarity with India in its fight against terrorism. Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, in particular, condemned the attack and extended condolences to the victims’ families.

India and the Netherlands share over 75 years of diplomatic relations marked by robust political, economic, and commercial ties. According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, both nations continue to strengthen their partnership across multiple domains, reflecting mutual trust and cooperation.
