Hyundai Motor India Foundation and IIT Madras Launch ‘Hope for Cancer’ Initiative with ₹56 Crore Commitment

Chennai, November 10, 2025: In a major step towards advancing cancer care and awareness in India, the Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) — the corporate social responsibility arm of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) — has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) to launch a nationwide initiative titled ‘Hyundai Hope for Cancer.’

This transformative campaign is designed to raise awareness, promote early detection, support cancer research, and improve access to treatment, particularly for children and underprivileged communities. The initiative reinforces Hyundai’s long-term vision of contributing to India’s social development through health and education-based CSR projects.

₹56 Crore Support for Cancer Awareness and Research

Under this program, the Hyundai Motor India Foundation has allocated a total of ₹56 crore, including a dedicated ₹3 crore fund for cancer care. The financial support will be used to organize more than 225 cancer awareness and screening camps across Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Haryana over the next four years.

The focus areas of this initiative include pediatric cancer research, community outreach, early screening, and public education to promote timely diagnosis and treatment. Through this collaboration, HMIF and IIT Madras aim to combine technological innovation with compassionate healthcare solutions, ensuring that more people, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, can access the resources they need.

Focus on Transforming Pediatric Cancer Care

According to a press release issued by the company, the ‘Hyundai Hope for Cancer’ initiative is specifically dedicated to transforming pediatric cancer care in India. IIT Madras will contribute its technical expertise and research capabilities, while HMIF will provide financial assistance, community engagement, and logistical support to implement large-scale programs.

By blending academic innovation with corporate social responsibility, the initiative seeks to create sustainable models for healthcare delivery and cancer prevention. This partnership also highlights the importance of industry-academia collaboration in addressing complex public health challenges.

Reaching Over 11,000 Beneficiaries So Far

Since its initial rollout, Hyundai Hope for Cancer has already reached more than 11,000 individuals through community-based activities, awareness drives, and medical camps. The initiative also intends to strengthen hospital infrastructure, develop screening technologies, and build a network of healthcare professionals dedicated to improving cancer care in India.
