HSSC Haryana Police Constable: Big Relief for Over-Aged Youth in Haryana Police Constable Recruitment: In a major relief for thousands of aspiring candidates, the Haryana government has announced a three-year age relaxation for the ongoing Haryana Police Constable Recruitment. Along with this crucial decision, the application deadline has also been extended, giving candidates additional time to complete the online registration process. This move is expected to benefit a large number of youth who were unable to apply earlier due to age-related restrictions.
Age Relaxation Approved on Government Recommendation
The Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC), acting on the instructions of the state government, has officially approved a three-year relaxation in the maximum age limit for candidates applying for approximately 5,500 constable posts in the Haryana Police. This decision was taken after receiving numerous representations from candidates who missed earlier recruitment opportunities because of delays in the Common Eligibility Test (CET).
HSSC Chairman Himmat Singh shared this important update through his official Facebook post on Thursday. He explained that many candidates approached the commission stating that the CET examination was delayed by nearly three years, which caused them to cross the upper age limit for police recruitment. After reviewing the issue, the state government decided to provide age relaxation to all eligible affected candidates.
Application Deadline Extended to January 31
In addition to the age relaxation, the commission has also extended the last date for submitting online applications. Candidates can now apply until January 31 at 11:59 PM, giving them six extra days beyond the earlier deadline. The online application process initially began on January 11.
This extension is expected to further increase the number of applicants. As per the latest data, over 1.9 lakh candidates have already submitted their applications for the Haryana Police Constable recruitment.
Details of Vacancies
Under this recruitment drive, a total of 5,500 constable posts will be filled, including:
- 4,500 posts for Male Constables
- 600 posts for Female Constables
- 400 posts for GRP (Government Railway Police) Constables
The age calculation for eligibility will be based on January 1, 2026, which is the date on which the recruitment advertisement was officially released by the HSSC.
CET Delay and Cancelled Recruitments Affected Youth
The Common Eligibility Test (CET), which is mandatory for Haryana Police recruitment, could not be conducted for three consecutive years after 2022. Additionally, the police constable recruitment processes announced in 2022 and 2023 were canceled due to various administrative reasons. As a result, many candidates were deprived of the opportunity to appear in the CET and eventually became over-aged.
Even candidates who managed to clear the CET conducted last year were unable to participate in the recruitment process, leading to widespread dissatisfaction among the youth.
Youth Demands and Government Intervention
For a long time, candidates had been demanding age relaxation, arguing that the CET was supposed to be conducted annually but was not held for three years. They also cited examples from other states such as Uttar Pradesh, where candidates were granted age relaxation after recruitment cancellations.
Taking these concerns seriously, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini personally intervened in the matter. Following his directions, the HSSC approved a three-year age relaxation, ensuring justice to affected candidates and restoring their opportunity to compete in the Haryana Police Constable recruitment.

After receiving formal instructions from the state government, the HSSC Chairman officially announced the decision, confirming both the age relaxation and the extension of the application deadline. This announcement has been welcomed widely and is being seen as a positive step toward addressing long-standing grievances of Haryana’s youth.
