UP Police Recruitment: The recent UP Police Constable recruitment notification has sparked mixed reactions among aspirants across the state. While the announcement has brought hope and excitement to thousands of young candidates, it has also led to disappointment and frustration among a significant section of applicants. Soon after the notification was released, social media platforms were flooded with demands for age relaxation, with many candidates expressing concern over the eligibility criteria.
The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has officially released the notification for the recruitment of 32,679 constable posts. This large-scale recruitment drive was expected to provide relief to unemployed youth who have been preparing for police jobs for several years. However, the eligibility conditions, particularly the age limit, have become a major point of contention.
According to the notification, the maximum age limit for male candidates has been fixed at 22 years, while female candidates can apply up to the age of 25 years. Many aspirants believe that this age limit is too restrictive, especially considering the long gap between recruitment cycles and delays caused by administrative reasons and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the past few years, candidates have repeatedly demanded a 3-year age relaxation, arguing that many deserving applicants have crossed the age limit due to the absence of regular recruitment. Despite these appeals, the recruitment board has reduced the upper age limit, leaving several candidates ineligible to apply. As a result, affected aspirants are now actively demanding age relaxation so that they can get another opportunity to compete.
The issue has gained momentum on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), where candidates, educators, and influencers are voicing their concerns. A well-known YouTuber and teacher wrote, “Honorable @myogiadityanath ji, PAC recruitment has not been conducted for many years, due to which thousands of general category youth have become over-age. We respectfully request a 3-year age relaxation in PAC recruitment as well.”
Another user highlighted the disparity in age limits by stating that in most Indian states, the general category age limit for police recruitment is 18 to 25 years, whereas in Uttar Pradesh, it is restricted to 18 to 22 years. The user further claimed that this policy is unfair to the youth of the state and is causing mental stress among hardworking aspirants. While OBC and SC candidates receive a 5-year age relaxation, general category candidates feel deprived of equal opportunities. Many are now demanding that the age limit for UP Police recruitment be increased to 18–25 years for all categories, ensuring fairness and equal chances for every aspirant.
With the debate intensifying, all eyes are now on the government’s response. Aspirants hope that their concerns will be addressed and that necessary changes will be made to ensure a more inclusive and just recruitment process.
