Zomato Transforms into Eternal: Shareholders Approve Name Change
Zomato’s parent company has officially rebranded as Eternal Limited after receiving approval from its shareholders. This marks a significant shift in the company’s identity, paving the way for the official transition from Zomato to Eternal.
Under the Eternal umbrella, the company will operate through four key verticals:
- Zomato (food delivery)
- Blinkit (quick commerce)
- District (going-out experiences)
- Hyperpure (B2B grocery supply)
This is Zomato’s second major rebranding. Originally launched as Foodibay in 2008, the company adopted the name Zomato in 2010.
The shift to Eternal began internally in 2022 following the acquisition of Blinkit (formerly Grofers), alongside a major organizational restructuring. Each business unit now functions independently under the larger corporate umbrella, with its own CEO.
In a letter to shareholders, co-founder Deepinder Goyal explained the reasoning behind the change:
“When we acquired Blinkit, we started using ‘Eternal’ internally to distinguish the company from the Zomato brand/app. We always knew that when the time was right, we would make this change public. Today, working alongside Blinkit, I believe that time has come.”
With this transformation, Eternal Limited is set to redefine its future while maintaining its stronghold in the food and commerce industries.
